Lawrence Pintak
is the director of the Kamal Adham Center for Journalism Training and Research at The American University in Cairo and publisher/co-editor of Arab Media & Society. A former CBS News Middle East correspondent, Pintak has reported from four continents for many of the world’s leading news organizations. He is the author of several books on U.S. Middle East policy. Pintak will lead the three-week program.
Rami Khouri is the director of the Issam Fares Institute of Public Policy and International Affairs at the American University in Beirut and editor-at-large for Beirut’s Daily Star newspaper. A former Neiman Scholar at Harvard, Khouri’s columns appear regularly in the U.S., Europe and the Arab world. He will be co-leader for the Cairo portion of the intensive.
Yasir Khan is an award-winning multimedia journalist and documentary filmmaker. Over the last 11 years, he has written, produced, and presented major news stories from around the world for TV, radio, magazines and websites. He has also made documentaries on subjects ranging from the tsunami, to child soldiers in Sri Lanka, to Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, to aboriginal Canadians. Before coming to AUC, Yasir was a senior video journalist at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). He was assigned to the CBC’s flagship primetime show, CBC News: The Hour.
