Talaat Abdel-Malek earned his B.Comm. with honors from Alexandria University in 1955. He earned an M.A. in Economics from Manchester University in 1958. His Ph.D. in International Economics came from the London School of Economics & Political Science in 1961. He has attended the International Marketing Program and the Executive Development Program at Stanford as a Ford Foundation Fellow in 1963 and 1964 respectively. Abdel-Malek held professorial positions in a number of universities in Canada, and also in the UK, and China. He was also a senior adviser to the International Trade Center UNCTAD/GATT in Geneva from 1988 to 1995, and a consultant to several international organizations. He is also a member of the Evian Group, a Swiss-based Think Tank concerned about global trade issues and their impact on developing countries.
Abdel-Malek also currently serves as the Executive Director, Centre for Project Evaluation & Macroeconomic Analysis, Ministry of International Co-operation, and is the Economic Adviser to the Minister.
