Rasha A. Abdulla
Dr. Rasha A. Abdulla is assistant professor of Journalism and Mass Communication at the American University in Cairo. She has a PhD from the University of Miami (2003) in Coral Gables, Florida. Her BA (’92) and MA (’96) in Journalism and Mass Communication are both from AUC. She is the author of "The Internet in Egypt and the Arab World"[In Arabic] (2005, Afaq Publications), and "The Internet in the Arab World: Egypt and Beyond" (2007, Peter Lang, Inc.). She has published refereed academic articles in prestigious international communication journals, and book chapters with several communication gurus. Dr. Abdulla is also an international consultant. She lectures on a variety of topics, including public speaking, cross-cultural communication, presentation skills, negotiation skills, leadership, organizational communication, development communication, crisis management, as well as marketing skills and writing and editing. She is also a free lance writer/editor, and has worked as a radio announcer at Radio Cairo’s Overseas Department and the Local European Service.
Dr. Abdulla has taught at the University of Miami, Georgia State University, and Portland State University in the United States. She has won several prestigious awards, including the BEC School Excellence in Research Award (2007), the International Communication Association Outstanding Teaching Award (2003), the University of Miami Research & Creativity Award (2003), and the Mostafa and Ali Amin Journalism Award (1992).
Dr. Abdulla is also a professional musician. She sings and plays the guitar, and performs regularly in Egypt and, whenever possible, in the United States.
