Associate Professor and Chair of the History Department

Blanks obtained his B.A. (in 1983) and M.A. (in 1985) from Michigan State University. His Ph.D. (in History) is from Ohio State University (1991).

He became an assistant professor at AUC in 1992, and then an associate professor.

He recently co-edited, with Amy Livingstone and Michael Frassetto, Medieval Monks and Their World: Ideas and Reality (Leiden: Brill, 2006). He previously co-edited with Michael Frassetto, Western Views of Islam in Medieval and Early Modern Europe: Perception of Other (New York: St. Martin's Press, 1999).
