Visiting Associate Professor of Chemistry
Faculty and the Science and Technology Research Center
Adham Ramadan obtained his B.Sc. from AUC in 1991, with a major in chemistry and a minor in computer science, being awarded the University President Cup for the highest ranking graduating student. He went on to graduate studies at Cambridge University, UK, where he obtained his PhD in physical chemistry in 1996.
Upon his return to Egypt, Ramadan became involved in environmental work. In 1997, he joined the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency, Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs, and in 2000, he joined the field of private environmental consultancy. During his environmental career, Ramadan has been involved with a number of national and international initiatives and activities concerned with environmental management at large, with an emphasis on management of hazardous substances and wastes, his area of expertise.
Ramadan has also been involved with the Department of Chemistry at AUC since 1997 as a part-time faculty member, and as a research fellow for a number of research projects on catalysis. In 2003, he joined AUC as a full-time faculty member, where he is currently teaching general, environmental, analytical and physical chemistry courses.
His research interests include catalysis, and studies of the solid-liquid interface at the nanoscale, in addition to hazardous substances and waste management.
He is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Society of Chemistry and Industry, the American Chemical Society, as well as the International Association of Solid Waste Management.
