ENG 100 is designed to enable students to:

1. Develop reading strategies, background schema and vocabulary required for understanding the variety of freshman-level texts encountered at AUC
2. Develop the ability to write a logically organized, fully developed, grammatically correct essay, in response to a prompt
3. Develop the ability to summarize, in writing, the ideas of others found in assigned reading passages
4. Develop basic research skills required for finding information using library and internet resources
