Prior to full admission to AUC graduate departments, students must demonstrate proficiency in English that is adequate for advanced graduate studies.

English placement is determined by students' scores on the AUC English Language Proficiency Entrance Test (ELPET) or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). For detailed information, please review AUC's requirements for graduate admission.

Incoming graduate students who must strengthen their English proficiency to ensure success in their studies may be placed in one of the following ELI programs:

• Academic English for Graduates — Modules
       o Effective Academic Writing (ENGL 123)
       o Academic Reading (ENGL 124)
