Quality Control Lab

Location: FLAC 309
Supervisor: Dr. Shalaby

This Lab supports a subset of Industrial Engineering courses; mainly : MENG 342, “Quality Control” , MENG 344 “Work Design”, and partially MENG 448 : Facilities Planning.

The Lab is intended to enhance student’s skills in accurate geometrical and dimensional measurements, time measurements and conducting time Studies, and in the use of state-of the-art software packages in the IE area.

Lab equipment include a selected diversity of a LAN network of computers with QC, Factory Layout, and Optimization Software, dimensional measurements devices, surface roughness, time measurement devices, work study boards , data loggers, environmental conditions measurements, and sample inspection equipment.

More specifically, Lab sessions are planned to provide hands on training for:

    * Software Applications in QC, QSB, TORA, Cplex, FAC CAD
    * Statistical Quality Control experiments; counters, bowls, charts,…
    * Dimensional measurements (Venires, micrometers, …)
    * Geometrical Measurements; roundness, flatness, Tool maker’s microscope,…
    * Surface Roughness measurements
    * Interactive learning through LAN of 15 work stations
    * Environmental measurements; noise level, light intensity, humidity, temperature
    * Time measurements; cyclographs, data loggers, digital timers, interfaces
    * Time Study experiments; boards, stop watches, charts,…
    * Inspection station for small packages
