Ibrahim Shihata Memorial LL.M. Degree in Comparative & International Law
The first of its kind to offer American style legal education in the Arab World, the LL.M. program is intended for law school graduates who seek the necessary legal skills to contribute effectively in a global economy and to develop the critical capacities necessary to engage in public policy debates over law and development.
Named in memory of the late Dr Ibrahim Shihata, General Counsel and Senior VP of the World Bank, the Master of Laws (LL.M.) Degree Program in International and Comparative Law seeks to offer a space of intellectual rigor and academic excellence where questions of legal reform and development can receive the thoughtful attention they deserve.
International Human Rights Law MA
The Mission of the International Human Rights Law MA Program is to provide students with a multidisciplinary understanding of human rights: the laws that shape it, the institutions and actors that enforce and define norms, and the organizations, advocacy methods and activists who work within its language. We provide students with courses that incorporate critical approaches to rights within a detailed legal and advocacy skill-building framework in which theory and practice are inseparable. The Program is self-consciously local in its orientation and method, and works with students to develop creative and innovative engagements with advocates in the discipline.
Law Library
The mission of the Law Library supports the curricular, scholarship and research needs of the Department of Law. It acquires, organizes, preserves, and facilitates access to legal and law related resources, in relevant formats, and provides effective service and instructional programs.
Legal English Training Unit
The mission of the Legal English Training Unit supports the Law Department’s overall mission to provide students with a “world-class education and with the necessary skills to understand and serve their societies” by enhancing students’ abilities to communicate effectively and appropriately in English.
