Academic Offerings
The academic programs offered by the Department of Chemistry include:
· Bachelor of Science in Chemistry possible specialization in clinical chemistry, and/or industrial chemistry.
· Minor in Chemistry: This minor provides the students with a workable knowledge of the basic principles of chemistry and some of their applications.
· Minor in Archeological Chemistry: This minor provides the students with the necessary knowledge for the elucidation of some archaeological problems.
· Minor in Environmental Science: (This is an interdisciplinary minor coordinated by the Departments of Biology and Chemistry). Students in this minor will become involved in the study of environmental related problems at the national, regional and international levels.
Admission Requirements
Students are admitted to the Chemistry major either upon admission to AUC or as change of major within AUC. High school students with mathematics/science background are accepted depending on their High School grades and the available quota in the program. Refer to the attached sheet for the required courses to join the program. An AUC student who intends to declare major in chemistry must complete Chemistry 105 and 115 with a minimum of a B average, or if declaring the major before the completion of these two courses, should have obtained a minimum of 80% in Thanawia Amma science or equivalent in other certificates.
