Prospective Jobs
Today’s biologists are taking part in an exceptional period of achievement due to deeper understanding of the basic processes of living organisms and their surroundings. The understanding of global environment change, advances in computational biology and modern biological techniques, availability of draft sequences of human and model organism genomes, and the understanding of diseases at the molecular and cellular level have created new avenues of research and technologies in all fields of biological sciences. Such advances have created excellent employment opportunities in the biomedical and biotechnological fields in industry and academia. Biology graduates from AUC have gone on to more advanced degree work at the University of London, University of Leeds, Warwick Medical School in the United Kingdom; and the American University in Beirut. AUC biology graduates have gone on to careers that include molecular technologist at the Naval Medical Research Unit, food safety technologist at Mars Egypt Manufacturing, embryologist in the Egyptian In-Vitro Fertilization and Embryo Transfer laboratory, and genomic analyst in the European Bioinformatics Institute, United Kingdom.
