When you enter Egypt, you are usually given a one month tourist vista at Cairo airport.  The American University in Cairo’s Arabic Language Institute, through the University’s Support Services Office, will assist you in extending your tourist visa till the first week of Agust. In addition, you will still have a 13 day extension – which you can spend in Cairo – without penalty. 

A student who wishes to obtain a student visa instead of a tourist visa (which can be easily extended) must send the data form together with a copy of his/her passport with the application form to Sherine Nabil at alu@aucegypt.edu.
