Academic Affairs

The Academic Affairs Committee reviews, approves, and monitors standards of research and instruction, policies concerning grading, and other matters pertaining to the academic mission of the University.


1)  The Committee will receive recommendations and review for consideration and recommendation matters of academic standards and policy, research standards, and other matters pertaining to the academic mission of the University.


2)  The Committee will consider and make recommendations on decisions and actions proposed or taken by deans of the academic schools, the vice president for student affairs and others with pertinent responsibility on matters pertaining to academic and research standards, policy, and procedures.


3)  The Committee will request of the deans of the academic schools, vice president for continuing education and other with pertinent administrative responsibility such information regarding academic policy and standards of research as deemed necessary to fulfill its mandated monitoring responsibilities.


4)  The Committee will consider and make recommendations on matters of academic and research standards and policy referred by individual senators and others in the University community, if deemed appropriate by Committee members.  


5) The Committee will report to the Faculty Senate as a whole its recommendation for Senate approval on matters of academic policy.  Whenever possible, such recommendation will be made within two weeks of the Committee’s receipt of documentation of proposals requiring action.
