Main Campus
Surrounded by Sheikh Rihan, Kasr El Aini and Mohamed Mahmoud streets, the Main Campus consists of three principal buildings: the Science Building, Hill House and the Administration Building. The administration building is a converted palace which was originally built in the 1860s for the Minister of Education Khairy Pasha. The building briefly became the headquarters of the Egyptian University (now Cairo University) in the early 1900s and was acquired by AUC in 1919. The palace now houses central administrative and faculty offices; a number of classrooms; Ewart Memorial Hall, one of the most culturally active auditoriums in Cairo; Oriental Hall, where special public lectures and receptions are often held; the Arabic Language and English Language Institutes; and the English and comparative literature department. Hill House houses the international student affairs office, alumni office, sports office, gym, a computer lab and the bookstore.
The wing of the building facing Sheikh Rihan Street contains the AUC cashier's office, information office, travel office, registrar's office, student financial affairs office and financial aid office. There is also a branch of the Commercial International Bank (CIB) located in this building, and students may open an account there. The visa and passport office is located on the fourth floor. Green spaces are located among these buildings, as well as the Fountain Area, a tennis court and a multipurpose court.
Greek Campus
Located one block away from the Main Campus, the Greek Campys occupies most of the block bounded by Mohamed Mahmoud, Youssef El Guindi, El Tahrir and El Falaki streets. The campus, orginally built as a Greek school for girls, houses the School of Continuing Education; the Social Science Building; the Wallace Building, which includes the student development office, the Student Union and Wallace computer lab; the Main Library; the Abdul Latif Jameel Management Center; the Blue Room, a venue for special lectures; the post office, and the AUC cafeteria and restaurant.
Falaki Campus
Located on El Falaki Street and comprising two buildings: the Falaki Academic Center houses engineering labs, writing program classrooms, offices, an auditorium, a black box theater, an art gallery, a gym and two cafes. The older Falaki Building houses the freshman advisors and faculty offices.
