An AUC physician holds clinic hours 3 days per week for residents in the Zamalek residence. After hour medical emergencies for students residing in Zamalek are typically referred to al-Salam hospital in Mohandesiin, a 10 minute drive away. Residents in the new campus cottages can visit the AUC clinic, centrally located in the Campus Center, by Bartlett Plaza. The clinic will be staffed with five doctors and five nurses, and outfitted with three recovery rooms, a blood-testing lab, and a pharmacy. AUC has an agreement with al-Ahly Bank Hospital in Kattameya, a 15 minute drive from the new campus, for emergency services requiring hospitalization. Negotiations are underway to ensure a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week service with a doctor on-site for emergencies after regular clinic hours. Read more about medical provisions on the new campus.
Student resident emergency protocol provides that a residential life staff member, fluent in English and Arabic, accompany students to area hospitals. AUC physicians liaison with hospital caregivers to monitor treatment. Family members and host institutions seeking assistance and/or information about medical cases should contact Residential Life staff directly. See the Contact Us pages on our website.
