Art Group

Art in all its different forms is man’s foremost medium of expression. Because of the
importance of art in human history and development, and its importance to interested
students, the Art Group provides raw materials, professional guidance and a great
opportunity for students interested in improving and developing their artistic talents.

Rock & Roll and Salsa

The “Rock & Roll” dance group performed during La Fiesta variety show in 2004.
Salsa and Tango will be added to the club’s dance classes.

Egyptian Folklore Group

With colorful costumes and rhythmic sounds, all reflecting the vitality of youth and
the richness of Egyptian culture, the AUC Folklore Group has always charmed its
national and international audiences. Since 1986, the group has regularly represented
Egypt and AUC in international folk festivals in Europe and the United States.

Music Group

From a few talented students performing individually, the Music Group has developed
into a full-fledged music team performing under the supervision of a professional
conductor. Students are trained to play both western and oriental instruments such as
the violin, guitar, tabla and oud. Outstanding students accompany the folklore and
choral groups to international festivals.

Choral Group

The Choral Group was founded in 1982 and has been led by professional conductors
ever since. Since its establishment, the group has consistently participated in the annual
National University Cultural Competition. The group has also participated in
numerous international festivals in the UAE, Tunisia, Lebanon and Jordan.

Creative Writing Group

Creative and expository writing, such as poems, short stories and critiques in Arabic,
has always been a primary means of developing and promoting our cultural identity
and heritage. AUC students have proved to be eloquent in Arabic, repeatedly winning
top positions in the National University Cultural Competition.

Theater Group

The group introduced its first theater production, the Arabic comedy Segn El Nessa,
in spring 2004 with a script written by the renowned playwright Fatheia El Assal and
starring AUC students. The group regularly produces mini-plays and participates in
the National University Cultural Competitions.

Marionette Group

One of the cultural activities recently introduced is the acting and marionette group,
Balloona, which consists of 10 members who create a mélange between real life actors
and marionettes and whose plays usually tackle aspects of our everyday life.
