I heard about library behavior rules that must be observed --what are they?
The university libraries are primary locations for study and research on the AUC campuses. As such, it is important that the libraries establish and maintain an atmosphere that allows all users to access the resources and to study, read and concentrate without undue difficulty, noise or distraction. To do so, rules of appropriate library conduct must be observed by all. This includes:
- All library users must possess a valid AUC ID.
- Loud conversation is prohibited.
- Eating, drinking and smoking is prohibited.
- Stairs and walk areas must be kept clear to maintain a smooth and safe flow of traffic.
- Rearrangement of seating is not permitted.
- Sitting on carrels and desktops is prohibited.
- If mobile phones are brought into the libraries, ringers/sound must be switched off.
- Mobile phones may only be used in the library stairwells.
- Limit sessions to 20-30 minutes when others are waiting.
- Download information to diskettes whenever possible.
- Observe posted limitations concerning email and chat.
- Do not install, remove, move or alter software.
Violation of these guidelines may result in disciplinary action by the university. For more details about AUC libraries, please visit http://lib.aucegypt.edu.

If I am sick, where should I go?
The AUC clinic is located at 5, Youssef El Guindy St. and has three physicians on duty daily from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and, for emergencies, a highly qualified nurse from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. University physicians may pay house visits to students in university housing and will prescribe medicine and sick leave to ill students during clinic hours. All medicine is purchased at the student’s expense. The university physician will also refer students to specialists should the need arise; students will pay reduced fees.

If I was sick and visited a private physician, can I get a medical excuse?
You must submit your medical certificate to the AUC clinic as soon as possible. If you are unable to deliver it yourself, have someone you know bring the medical certificate to the clinic for approval. If your medical absence is judged valid, the clinic will give its approval. If your medical certificate reaches the AUC clinic later than one week from the date of your sickness, the clinic will not approve it. If you bring your medical certificate immediately after being sick, this will help the clinic to properly evaluate your case. In any of the above cases, the clinic has the right to reject the certificate if it does not accept the credibility of the information.
