Undergraduate Student Services

From issuing the main student communication vehicle -- the Channel, -- to assisting students with special needs, the student services office offers a full range of services for undergraduate students who require assistance in a variety of areas related to their educational and personal pursuits at AUC.

The office also provides student counseling for emotional wellness, student mentoring for academic success, opportunities to engage in sports for physical fitness and the following general services to fulfill student's needs.

Student Handbook and Planner

The annual Student Handbook and Planner provides basic information about the university policies and procedures, as well as guidelines for new and returning students to help them achieve their academic and life goals. The academic daily planner enables students to use the handbook more frequently during their time at AUC and serves as a resource during their college years.

The Channel

A weekly print and online newsletter addressed to the AUC community, the Channel covers important events, deadlines, sports tryouts, official holidays, lectures, concerts, conferences, important meetings and interviews. Through the Channel, students learn about new university policies and regulations, awards and prizes, contests, orientations, graduation, and more.

Conferences and Workshops Abroad

This service is intended to facilitate and subsidize student travel abroad to attend academic and semi-academic conferences, contests and workshops such as the Model United Nations and Model Arab League in the United States, academic computing contests in Kuwait and China, electronics engineering conferences in Finland, as well as other conferences. The service also facilitates the process of issuing ministerial decrees and military clearance.

Students with Special Needs

The office handles cases of students with special needs such as visual impairments, learning disabilities, etc.  and makes provisions for accommodating their conditions with the relevant departments/offices.

Class Notification of Absence

Students may seek 'notification of absence' documents from the student services office verifying classroom absences involving official university activities and events. These events may include national and international sports competitions, and tournaments that take place on or off campus, cultural events and conferences, etc. Notification of absence due to medical conditions are handled by the university clinic.

Student Mailboxes

Pigeonhole mailboxes are available at the student services office for the use of all university students.  Mail is placed according to first name, and students are encouraged to check their mailboxes regularly. Mail addressed to international students should be picked up at the international student affairs office. Notices are placed in the mailboxes for large parcels to be picked up from the local post or from the university post office. To send letters, students may use the AUC post office located on the Greek Campus in the Center for Adult and Continuing Education (CACE) Building, second floor.

Advertisements

The student services office authorizes advertizements placed on campus in the form of fliers, posters and other visual or written material. Advertizements that are educational and cultural and abide by university policies are usually authorized. Other activities related to students, faculty and staff -- such as apartment rentals, search for roommates, etc. -- may also be approved.
