Facilities

Our indoor facilities include areas designated for weight training and aerobics, martial arts, table tennis and squash, as well as a large gymnasium for basketball, volleyball and handball.

Outdoor areas include a 400 meter track, a 50m pool, six tennis courts, two outdoor basketball / football courts, two volleyball courts, a handball court and two grass fields for use by the AUC sports teams. All fields are lighted for night play.

We conduct tours of the facility during orientation and the first few weeks of class each year to help orient you to the breadth of activities available. Click here for pictures and more details on specific areas.

Workshops and Beginners Clinics

Recreational activities and options to learn beginner skills in a variety of sports will be offered through the year at various clinics and sport days. Classes are also offered in activities such as scuba diving, a popular activity in the Red Sea. Please check the bulletin boards in the Sports Center or click here for more information on the schedules for these programs.

The sports department also organizes physical fitness tests for all students to test their fitness progress. These tests take place two times each semester and the three highest scoring students are honored in the annual awards ceremony.

Competitive Sports

AUC also offers a number of competitive sports teams which compete against other universities throughout Egypt and the region. These teams offer people with well developed skills and significant experience playing their sport the opportunity to travel and play other university teams. These teams are competitive in nature, and tryouts are required to participate for all teams except rowing. A list of teams and contact numbers for the coaches may be found here on the web site. Practices for most teams will begin in late October.
