The CMRS Special Collection
The AUC Library system contains numerous materials that relate to migration and refugees, including books, electronic books, and journals that sit throughout different libraries in the system. Of particular interest to researchers, however, may be the Grey Files at the CMRS Library. This is a special collection instituted with support from the Mellon Foundation and now with continuing support from Ford Foundation. The Grey Files can be found in 5 Youssef El-Gindi, fifth flr., Apt. # 51.
The Grey Files contain unpublished and limited-distribution primary documents such as conference papers and proceedings, theses, and reports; handbooks and policy materials of governments, NGOs, and INGOs; and published materials such as rare journal articles otherwise unavailable in the AUC Library system. While arranged according to region and topic, the materials in the Grey Files are searchable in the library catalog like other AUC library materials. They may be of use to those researching development, humanitarian affairs, human rights and regional studies, as well as those already familiar with CMRS and conducting research on migration and refugees.
As of 2009, the regular hours of the CMRS Library are 12AM - 3PM from Sunday - Wednesday and from 12:00AM to 02:00PM on Thursday . You may contact the CMRS Library Specialist, Ms. Amoding Deborah Oluka, the CMRS Library Specialist, at 2797.6766 or cmrslibrary@aucegypt.edu.
