Accreditation at AUC
Institutional accreditation status is granted by Middle States for a period of ten years, with a mid-way periodic review. AUC is now preparing for consideration of re-accreditation by Middle States. The adherent self-study process, which involves participants from all units of the institution and focuses on all areas of activities and services, is an opportunity to focus attention on where the university stands in terms of achieving its goals and standards, and focus efforts on areas that need enhancement and changes, as well as defining new challenges, in academic endeavors and in organizational matters. The synergistic benefits of involving stakeholders in the long range plan, outcomes assessment and re-accreditation self-studies are many, among them: fostering coherence in addressing new developments and forging a more “organic community” that is working towards a common future. (For an overview of the re-accreditation self-study task forces and themes, please see Appendix H).
In Egypt, AUC operates within the framework of a 1975 protocol with the Egyptian government which in turn is based on a 1962 cultural relations agreement between the Egyptian and the U.S. governments.
In the United States of America, AUC is licensed to grant degrees and is incorporated by the State of Delaware. AUC is governed by a board of trustees and is administered by a chief executive officer appointed by this board.
